Welcome to Vindictve! Vindictive is a unique squirrel rp. We are proudly one of the only 'wild' squirrel roleplays- how the squirrels of North America live after the fall of the humans. This forum is supposed to be a roleplay of how we imagine the squirrels of Mossflower to have lived before their "humanization". I, the admin of this site, aim to get the squirrels to the medieval stage that you see in Redwall and Mistmantle. Well, I suppose to get that, we all need to start rping! so be off, then! go and have fun with your rps!
This world is a Vindictive place, and the Darkclaw Realms is the name dubbed on it by the squirrels who live here.
History re-wrote itself before it was written. The middle ages are coming to an end, and a great epidemic sweeps the globe. Every human died of a disease that spread like wildfire over the total population. Tame horses, dogs, and cats all passed away from it, catching it from their masters. The only animals to survive were of the wild. The squirrels being one of them. They, unlike the rats and mice that thrived with the humans, then died with them as well, still lived and were now grouping together in north America. From fox squirrels to red squirrels, they fled Europe and most of Canada, the lands that were becoming populated by wolves and other predators, and grouped together. The forests that they lived in were mostly filled with nomad dreys... but eventually the idea of a human-like clan grew popular.
Starting with the albino squirrel Martin, and going on from there until now there are many clans developing, the forests were split up, and the lands were taken over by certain clans. Split into groups of red squirrels and grey squirrels, most of the clan members found life a constant battle for land. But not all was bad.... for as days progressed, they eventually began adapting things like humans would; taking milk from the stems of plants, establishing hierarchies, and occasionally walking up right. Would they grow to be creatures of human likeness? or would the ways of an animal overcome that thinking? Only time would tell what this Vindictive Land will do to your Character.

The Great Riverdreys A large oak tree, weathered and worn from age, with great leafy vines twisting down its trunk stands proudly here next to a rushing river. Its huger center is hollow at the top, and the massive hollowed out area is where representatives from various clans go to exchange monthly news and chatter. It is frequently a place of negotiations between clans, and many clans go here for trading.

The Loveoaks (1 sub-board) The Loveoaks are a small forest just near the birthing grounds where squirrels find the sweet smell of love and passion to be in the air... Hardly any predators other than a wandering coyote roam here, making it a prime choice for breeding grounds.

The Talonscreech Clan Once, this land was full of squirrel dreys. The harvest was plentiful and the trees embracing... but then Great Owl Oh'Xerk lead his kin to the forest. The bloodshed was terrible, and now the owl lords of the upper mountain forests live here, and they feed their hatch-lings with the drudge squirrels that are brought there by warring clans. Best not be or a squirrel looking for death, because wandering into the territory of the Talonscreech Clan seals your fate.

The Redmoon Caves A large boulder has a series of caves that are two squirrels high and three wide, and they are frequently a place where nomads and wandering squirrels go to share news and stay. It received it's name from Redmoon, a wise red squirrel who discovered it.

The Dead-clan Woods Here, where a Native American camp once stood, a wandering squirrel can find all sorts of odd things. Rotting and fallen tee-pees, broken pottery, moth-eaten leather, and even human skeletons litter the ground here, giving this place and the small area of pinetrees around it the name "Dead-clan" in a honor of the humans.

The Greynut Clans
Oakglade Clan The Oakglade clanlands are small, but they have enough room for a good-sized clan to live comfortably. There are many large oak trees to provide food, and blackberry patches are frequently found along the banks of the small stream that goes through the lands. The only predators that trouble these squirrels in their haven are the owls from the owlclan and a nest of adders at the border of the land.
Pinebrook Clan The Pinebrook Clan is situated in the middle of a pine grove with a few oaks trees at the northern and southern ends. The trees are close enough together so that one wouldn't have to leave the trees to get around except to get a drink from the stream that runs through the middle of the territory. Along the banks of the stream are patches of milkweed, edible tubers and wild strawberry bushes. Near the base of some of the pine trees grow raspberry and blackberry thickets. Pinebrook's drey is located in the heart of the grove near the top of one of the tallest trees in the area.
Samara-Maple Clan The area is filled with Sugar Maple trees. All of the trees make perfectly shaped hollow holes for warm nests! The trees are not too far apart from each other, so neighbors call to each other and chat. Babies have lots of room to play on the soft forest floors and the parents can easily watch them.
-Dreyland for Claiming- a large number of old oaktrees that surround the bank of a southern part of the river

Apple Forren Clan Amidst the growth of heavy reeds that seem to continuously gather around this clan's territory there is a grove of Apple trees, their sweet aromatic scent flowing around the vicinity ensuring a constant secure feeling to those who inhabit these territories. The trees planted long ago by humans who tried to make profit here who left for unknown reasons, it has provided perhaps every essential to create a well growing population. Still remaining are a few rusted down tractors and even a surrounding barbed wire fence to only keep out the deer, yet at times a wandering fox or curious badger may cross through, but the dreys here built of small notches are all but essential for protection. As with any territory, the danger also includes a family of eagles that sometimes hunts here, with that there is at times a need for heightened security, for where there is peace there is peril.
